Genuine Correlations of Like-Sign Particles in Hadronic Z Decays

چکیده

Correlations among hadrons with the same electric charge produced in Z0 decays are studied using the high statistics data collected from 1991 through 1995 with the OPAL detector at LEP. Normalized factorial cumulants up to fourth order are used to measure genuine particle correlations as a function of the size of phase space domains in rapidity, azimuthal angle and transverse momentum. Both all-charge and like-sign particle combinations show strong positive genuine correlations. One-dimensional cumulants initially increase rapidly with decreasing size of the phase space cells but saturate quickly. In contrast, cumulants in twoand three-dimensional domains continue to increase. The strong rise of the cumulants for all-charge multiplets is increasingly driven by that of likesign multiplets. This points to the likely influence of Bose-Einstein correlations. Some of the recently proposed algorithms to simulate Bose-Einstein effects, implemented in the Monte Carlo model Pythia, are found to reproduce reasonably well the measured secondand higher-order correlations between particles with the same charge as well as those in all-charge particle multiplets. This note describes preliminary OPAL results

Bose-einstein and Other Correlations in Hadronic Z Decay

In hadronic Z decays, Bose-Einstein correlations in π pairs are compared to those in identical charged pion pairs. Bose-Einstein correlations are also measured in triplets of identical charged pions, and comparison with those in pairs of pions indicates that pion production is completely incoherent. Further, factorial cumulants are used to compare correlations among like-sign as well as among a...

This thesis is based on the work that was done during 1992{1996 at the DELPHI detector at LEP. Its main parts are outlined below. The brief Introduction gives an overview of the science of Particle Physics, its development and contemporary status. The rst chapter represents an introduction to the DELPHI detector at LEP, describing the main features of the LEP machine and the DELPHI detector as ...

Multiparticle Correlations at Lep1

This talk presents an overview of latest results in multiparticle correlation studies in hadronic decays of Z by LEP experiments. Unless stated otherwise, it concerns pairs of identically charged particles. Analyses to be reviewed include the observation of a pion source elongation, studies of correlations between kaons and between Λ baryon pairs, and the transverse mass dependence of the two-b...

Effective Hamiltonian of Electroweak Penguin for Hadronic b Quark Decays

In this research we work with the effective Hamiltonian and the quark model. We investigate the decay rates of matter-antimatter of quark. We describe the effective Hamiltonian theory and apply this theory to the calculation of current-current ( ), QCD penguin ( ), magnetic dipole ( ) and electroweak penguin ( ) decay rates. The gluonic penguin structure of hadronic decays is studied thro...
